What We Are Looking For
You will be interested in:
· Helping people of all ages and backgrounds· Work that's varied, rewarding and stimulating
· Work that develops your personal skills and knowledge
· Receiving comprehensive training and support from experienced staff
· Being part of a service which supports equal opportunities
Wyre Forest CAB needs people who have:
· An interest in people· Time for others
· A non-judgmental attitude
· Good communication skills
· An awareness of equality issues
Wyre Forest Citizens Advice Bureau recruits people from a wide variety of backgrounds, who give time to helping with our work on a weekly basis.
You may be retired, a carer, a part-time worker, a student, unemployed, or unable to work because of illness or disability. You may simply have some spare time and a wish to make a positive contribution.
CAB Volunteer Advisers receive comprehensive training and support and help people with all kinds of problems, from the simple to the complex.
Because of the quality of our training, pre-existing qualifications aren't essential: your experience and attitude matter most.
How will you be Trained?
You'll be trained to a standard where you'll be competent in confidently dealing with a wide variety of challenging enquiries.
You'll be in training for about six months and will usually attend the Bureau for 2-3 sessions a week. Most of the training will be carried out at CAB House in Kidderminster and you'll be supported for the duration of your training by an experienced Guidance Tutor.
Training takes the form of, for example, study manuals, small group work, mentoring, shadowing experienced advisers, and regional training sessions with trainees from other bureaux.
You'll work towards gaining a nationally recognised CAB Certificate in Generalist Advice Work. However, training doesn't have to stop there: it can be ongoing and there's opportunities to specialise towards becoming, for example, a Money Adviser.
