Benefits Advice

At Wyre Forest CAB we provide a range of services regarding benefits, including completing claim forms, providing accurate advice on eligibility and assisting with benefits appeals when a benefit has been withdrawn or refused.

If you have a query regarding benefits, please contact us and we will do what we can to help.

Disability Benefits

A large part of our benefits work concerns disability benefits because many people think that if they have a mental or physical disability they automatically qualify for a disability benefit.

This, however, is not the case - to qualify you must be able to demonstrate that the disability has an impact on your life which is serious enough to satisfy the criteria for entitlement.

For example, questions like the following will be asked to establish your eligibility for disability benefits:

· Do you suffer from an illness that can make you suddenly ill, e.g. epilepsy?
· Do you find yourself in a place without knowing how you got there?
· Do you struggle to get dressed?
· Are you safe to walk with a hot drink?
· Would you stay in bed if not encouraged to get up?
· Are you safe to be in the house alone?
· Can you bend to put something in the oven?

We can help by assessing whether we think a claim or appeal will succeed. If we think you could qualify, we'll explain what needs to be done and support you through the process.

However, we won't be able to help you if we feel that you're not entitled to the benefit in question - this would be a waste of your time and ours.

Benefits Appeals

Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to attend an appeal with you, but we'll do everything we can to prepare your case beforehand and give you the best possible chance of winning.
