Money Advice

At Wyre Forest CAB, we understand how easy it is to get into debt. Maybe you were tempted and spent a little bit more than you could afford, or needed to buy an essential item such as a washing machine but didn't have any savings.

Most of the time, that's okay. You work out how much it will cost each month and either go ahead or shop around for something cheaper.

But what if you fall ill? What if your job disappears? Could you cope with the repayments? Did you take out payment insurance? Some of us may just muddle through, but what if you are ill longer than expected, or cannot find another job? Can you pay the rent? Can you pay your other bills?

Living With Debt

We don't judge you for getting into debt. Instead we take positive steps to help you cope with your repayments. We can negotiate with your creditors to arrange a payment in line with your weekly budget, a payment that will allow you to live while also keeping your creditors happy. We can't simply erase your debts, but we can help to make them more manageable.

Our team of advisers are here to talk you through the initial stages towards managing your debts. That may be all you need.

We also have two specialist Money Advisers, part funded by Wyre Forest Community Housing and Severn Trent Trust Fund, who can help you for as long as you need their support. They'll advise you based on their experience, but they won't tell you how to live or how to behave.

Ultimately your debts are your responsibility, but with our help you can get on top and take control of your money again.

How To Get Help

If you need Money Advice, please see an adviser and we'll take if from there. Note that if you visit the bureau you'll need to bring all the information relevant to your problem, such as creditors' letters, finance agreements and account details.
